Violation of IEEE Publication Principles " Security Enhancement in CDMA with a Hidden Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum System

چکیده

Served as one of the most widely used wireless airlink interface, CDMA has been identified as a major technique for 3G wireless communications. The current IS-95 CDMA provides a nearsatisfactory security solution to voice centric wireless communications because each voice conversation only lasts for a very short period of time. However, the security features provided by IS-95 CDMA are far from adequate and although it is utilized for data communications but is not fully acceptable. In this paper, the security weaknesses of the existing CDMA airlink interface are analyzed. A new method named hidden direct sequence is proposed to enhance the built-in security of CDMA systems with the application of cryptographic algorithms over the channelization code. Employing the proposed scheme can provide a much stronger security system than that already exists in IS-95 system.
